Talking money is hard in relationships, but it pays to know how.

Money is a touchy subject especially when it comes to relationships. Its uncomfortable. Icky even. But if you know how to approach that conversation, it could save you some major grief down the line. Disagreements over finances tend to be one of the leading causes of breakups. Even if it’s awkward, it pays to know how to broach the topic before your checkbook runs into the red. Let’s start off easy here.  Discuss going dutch (aka splitting the bill) at dinner. Seeing how easily you both work out the cost of a meal is a good practice exercise to finding out how financially compatible you’ll be as a pair. With any luck this will be easy, but if it’s not – at least you’ll know you may not be a match early on.
