Getting To Know the 5 love Languages

Speaking your partner’s language is the key to a fulfilling relationship

If you’re a romantic, you’re probably familiar with the idea of love languages, but how much do you really know about them in practice?

The idea was coined by Dr. Gary Chapman in his 1992 book ‘The Five Love Languages: How to Express Heartfelt Commitment to Your Mate’ and it can give you a better idea of how to express your feelings to your partner. It can also give you some insight into how you like (or don’t like) to be shown affection.

Knowing your partner’s love language is a key part of a fulfilling relationship, so let’s dig in deeper to really understand each of the five languages and how you can express them better.

1. Quality Time

If this is your love language, taking the time to have some uninterrupted, one-on-one time with your partner is the most important thing for you. If this is your partner’s language, its important to really devote that time to your relationship. Avoid distractions – put your phone on silent, turn the TV off. Spending quality time together doesn’t have to be extravagant either. Even taking the time to go a walk around the block together can show them you care.
