1. Tohoku – Japan
Japan is a metropolitan wonderland filled with high-tech cities like Tokyo. But about 300 miles north of that you’ll find the sprawling forests and coastline of Tohoku. Situated in the northern part of Japan’s main island of Honshu, the Tohoku region boasts some drop-dead gorgeous scenery. It’s preserved many historical buildings and landmarks – some hundreds of years old. In spring its one of the best places to observe the blooming of Japan’s legendary cherry blossom trees.
